Sold-out khao man gai, feeling sick at the gym from lack of sleep, and the moment I could smile and greet people at my usual restaurant without thinking. An ordinary day in Chiang Mai when I noticed the comfort of being natural.

I woke up at noon again today. I prepared my protein to go to the gym and set off!

Sold-out khao man gai and another restaurant at twice the price

I planned to eat khao man gai before the gym again today and went to my usual restaurant, but they were sold out. So I went to another nearby restaurant. It was also a khao man gai place, but the price was double.

The portion was large so I thought 'oh well,' but I didn't think it tasted particularly good. They had a Japanese menu, so that was the only good point. Usually the khao man gai sits on top of the rice, but at today's place the chicken and the rice were served on separate plates.

Why I felt sick at the gym

After eating that I went to the gym. Today I worked arms, chest, back, abs, and shoulders — everything. For some reason I started to feel sick partway through, and I think it's probably because lack of sleep has thrown my autonomic nervous system off balance. Lately I've been waking up at 6 a.m., and I wonder why.

Maybe I'm getting startled by other people making loud noises early in the morning, or maybe I'm still thinking about someone.

The moment I could greet someone with a smile without thinking

After finishing at the gym I went to the usual restaurant. I ordered the green Thai curry again today. I could see the young woman standing in the distance, and she noticed me too, so I said 'Hi! How are you' with a big smile.

Maybe because I wasn't thinking about anything at that moment, I was able to act naturally, and that made me happy. Being natural really is nice. You don't have to worry about what others think of you — always be yourself. I felt that's what true humanity is.

The green Thai curry was really delicious and full of protein with lots of chicken. After eating it I took a motorcycle taxi back to the hostel. After a short rest I headed to Starbucks. It was the same barista as yesterday, and I ordered a decaf cold brew again.

Another day has come to an end

I read a book and did some work while drinking it. Maybe because I worked a lot for the first time in a while, I became really tired. Still, it was a good day. On the way home I walked while listening to music. I was hungry, so I ate a rice dish topped with an omelette and pork from a convenience store.

This actually exists at 7-Eleven in Japan too, and I think it costs about 500 yen there, but here it's about 300 yen so it felt like a great bargain. I ate that, and another day came to an end.
